Chicago Bears: What to expect now that Charles Leno has been released
What will the Chicago Bears starting offensive line look like to start the season?
This brings us to the final area of discussion. With the additions of Teven Jenkins and Larry Borom through the 2021 NFL Draft, there are a few ways this offensive line could shake out. They say to put your best five guys on the live and go from there. I am not certain that is always the best case as chemistry could lead to a lesser talented line actually performing better as a cohesive unit.
If we start with the best, then the offensive line could look like this:
- Teven Jenkins – LT
- Cody Whitehair – LG
- James Daniels – C
- Alex Bars or Larry Borom – RG
- Germain Ifedi – RT
In this situation, based on the current roster, this could potentially put both newcomers Jenkins and Borom in the starting lineup. However, based on how the 2020 season ended, there could be some chemistry already developed that would make a different configuration better.
- Teven Jenkins – LT
- Cody Whitehair – LG
- Sam Mustipher – C
- James Daniels – RG
- Germain Ifedi – RT
This is honestly my best guess for how the offensive line will look to start the season unless someone stands out drastically in camp or a major injury takes place. Finally, the only other configuration I can see with this group is based on if Ryan Pace adds another veteran to the mix.
- New face (Eric Fisher perhaps) – LT
- Cody Whitehair – LG
- Sam Mustipher – C
- James Daniels – RG
- Germain Ifedi – RT
I have a feeling the starting offensive line configuration will end up being one of these three configurations. It seems the future Ryan Pace is hopeful to see is Teven Jenkins as the new starting left tackle and Larry Borom as the new starting right tackle. We will have to see if things play out that way.
