Bold predictions for the Chicago Bears’ rookie linemen

Teven Jenkins will allow one sack or less in 2021

A rookie offensive lineman is one of the toughest things to be in the NFL because the jump from college to the pros can be overwhelming for some. However, Teven Jenkins is one of those guys who is more than ready.

Now that Charles Leno is out of the picture, the road to being a starting left tackle is wide open for Jenkins. He’ll become Justin Fields’ blindside protector for years to come, and it all starts with a booming rookie year.

It is pretty astounding that over his four seasons in college, Jenkins only allowed two sacks. Well, as a rookie in the NFL, he will allow a maximum of just one.

Larry Borom will be a reserve lineman as a rookie

While many believe he could compete for and win the starting right tackle job, Larry Borom is best suited to sit and learn for a year. The Bears still have plenty of options out there in the free agent pool and very well might end up signing their starting right tackle that way.

Borom has a lot of tools to be a solid right tackle in this league, including sheer size and strength. But, he’ll fit best as someone who backs up the eventual starting right tackle for the Bears. If Chicago goes out and signs someone like Mitchell Schwartz to a 1-year deal, or another similar veteran, Borom would then be ready to take over in 2022.
