Bold predictions for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields

Fields will win the starting job

To most, this isn’t so bold. However, the way Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace are talking about Fields right now, it can count as a bold prediction. Nagy has reiterated that Andy Dalton is his starting quarterback, but no one believes that Dalton will hold that job for very long.

In fact, Fields will win that job in training camp. It won’t even come down to Dalton struggling in the regular season. This roster is ready to win. All they needed was a competent quarterback — and they got much more than just “competent” in Fields.

Fields will win Offensive Rookie of the Year

After he wins the starting quarterback job, Fields will go on to throw for over 3,800 yards while rushing for over 600 yards and totaling 36 touchdowns between the air and the ground. That should be more than enough to hand him the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award, beating out Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The difference between Fields and Lawrence is actually two-fold. First, Fields is much more apt to make plays with his legs. He’s going to soak up yardage on the ground. Additionally, Fields’ weapons are a bit better in Chicago. Having Allen Robinson as his number one, Fields boasts a top-tier receiver which Jacksonville does not.
