Chicago Bears fans thank you New York Giants

We now have to thank the direct source that led to the Chicago Bears landing what seems to be their best chance at a true franchise quarterback. With DeVonta Smith off the board, the New York Giants were willing to trade back. This set up perfectly for the Chicago Bears who needed to move ahead of the New England Patriots who owned the 15th-overall pick.

Thank you New York Giants and more specifically Dave Gettleman who traded back for the first time in what seems like possibly his career. Moving back from 11th overall to 20th overall must not have been easy, but hopefully, the Bears’ first-round and fourth-round picks next year were enough to soften the blow.

Not to mention, your organization got a solid consolation prize to Smith in Kadarius Toney. The 164th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft was included in the trade too. Using that to move up from 76 to 71 to select Aaron Robinson was interesting. Hopefully, Robinson works out for your organization, but if not, don’t forget you have other future picks to use in 2022.

In summary, we again thank you for the chance to move up and select Justin Fields. Without your cooperation, the Chicago Bears would probably have had to select Teven Jenkins at 20th-overall instead of landing him in the second round.
