Post-NFL Draft must-sign free agents for the Chicago Bears: T Eric Fisher

It’s kind of funny that we’re now talking about another free agent recovering from an Achilles injury, but Eric Fisher is one heck of a football player that the Bears would be lucky to land. It all depends on his recovery, but as of right now, Fisher could be on track to be ready for Week 1.

Fisher is receiving plenty of attention this week now that the draft is over and should have a new home shortly. If the Bears wanted to bolster their offensive line after cutting both Charles Leno and Bobby Massie, then Fisher would be quite the prize.

Already, Pace moved up and took rookie tackle Teven Jenkins out of Oklahoma State to come in and start at one of the tackle spots. If the Bears signed Fisher, Jenkins could then start at his most comfortable right tackle position as he did in college. Fisher is a left tackle, and would immediately solidify the Bears’ starting offensive line.

Fisher is a two-time Pro Bowler who has been mostly reliable throughout his entire career. He has only missed multiple games once in his career, back in 2019 when he played half the season. Otherwise, Fisher has been as consistent as they come up front. He would give Fields one of the better blindside protectors in the league, so long as he’s healthy.
