Value free agents available for the Chicago Bears: TE Mycole Pruitt

Lastly, the Bears should look at filling the void left by veteran tight end Demetrius Harris. Chicago could use another tight end on the roster, but one of a specific skill set. The Bears have Cole Kmet and Jimmy Graham to handle pass-catching duties. They don’t need another tight end of that caliber.

What they do need, though, is an experienced blocking tight end. One guy who fits that mold is veteran Mycole Pruitt, who spent the last three seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

Over his six-year career, Pruitt has only caught 32 passes. He’s never been the one to excel in the passing game, and that’s fine. But, he’s a solid blocker and comes from an offense that ran the ball down opposing defense’s throats, led by All-Pro Derrick Henry.

Little-known fact: Pruitt actually spent a couple of games with the Bears back in 2016 where he caught one pass for six yards.

If Pruitt were to sign with the Bears, he’d be coming much closer to home. Pruitt is from South Bend, Indiana, and played his college ball at Southern Illinois. He’d round out the Bears’ tight end room and give them some versatility in the run game as well. Once again, 2021 is going to be about establishing David Montgomery first and foremost. Pruitt would assist in that goal from the get-go.
