Should the Indianapolis Colts call the Chicago Bears about Anthony Miller?

It appeared we might have seen a Carson Wentz and Anthony Miller connection here in Chicago, but despite plenty of rumors, the Colts were the top team in on a Wentz trade this offseason. Could we still see a Wentz to Miller connection this season though? The Colts could definitely use another weapon in their wide receiver room.

Personally, I think Wentz will look much better in Indianapolis this season than he did last season with Philadelphia. That said, I don’t think he is MVP candidate Carson Wentz. He should wind up somewhere in between those two outliers. On paper, he has a better receiving corps than he did in Philly last year too.

The Colts brought back T.Y. Hilton on a one-year deal. However, outside of him, only Michael Pittman has true upside. Pittman was the Colts’ second-round (34th overall) pick last season. He had a solid year with 40 catches and 503 receiving yards, but only found the end zone once.

After Pittman and Hilton, the receivers include Parris Campbell, Zach Pascal, J.J. Nelson and some other no-names or UDFAs from the 2021 NFL Draft class. The Colts made the playoffs last year by going 11-5 and becoming one of the Wild Card teams. With Philip Rivers retiring and the team trading for Wentz, they cannot afford to slip backward. Adding a receiver like Anthony Miller could help keep them playoff-bound. It also keeps Miller from going to their division rival Tennessee.
