Chicago Bears: Players who could surprise at rookie minicamp

Chicago Bears rookies who could surprise at minicamp: Larry Borom
Missouri’s Larry Borom was the third player drafted by the Bears, making him a very important piece. But, a fifth-round pick won’t always necessarily make their presence known right away.
Most expect Borom to compete and probably end up landing the job to back up both tackle positions as the first guy off the bench. But, if he kickstarts his offseason program by playing well during minicamp, Borom could be on his way to surprising folks and earning a starting spot.
In a perfect world, Borom would come in and establish himself as an alpha lineman. At Missouri, this guy was an absolute tank. He moves piles naturally due to his size. He’s the perfect candidate to perform well throughout the offseason and take over the other starting tackle position.
Truly, there isn’t a better scenario than that. But, he’ll have some competition in guys like Elijah Wilkinson and Germain Ifedi. Maybe the Bears try Alex Bars at multiple positions, so he could be in the mix too.
But, in the end, Borom’s best-case scenario is to come out of rookie minicamp knowing he put on a show and established himself as an early favorite to win the second starting tackle job.
