After the season there was almost no doubt that Anthony Miller would not be with the Chicago Bears in 2021. As the rumors of free agency flew, the odds remained high that Miller would be gone. Leading up to the draft we heard his name in trade talks. However, the Bears stood pat and now are through the majority of the offseason with Miller still in play.

It has brought a fair question as to whether Miller will actually be traded or not. Mike Furrey, the Chicago Bears wide receivers may not be the GM, but he did give a firm idea that Miller will be on the roster, at least through training camp.

Furrey gave Miller a vote of confidence in saying that is engaging and maturing. However, it is clear that the line is thin with his line of believing it when he sees it. Along with this line, Furrey mentioned that the WR room is deeper this year than in the past and that the WRs who make the roster this year will have earned it through competition.

Anthony Miller apparently heard and had a notice for fans and his coaches for this upcoming season.

On one hand, you like to see that Miller is motivated by this and ready to prove himself. Competition may bring out the best in Miller. On the other, Furrey is saying enough talk, let’s see it. Enough social media, and of course it is Miller responding on social media, showing that he was once again reading about himself.

There is a long way until camp, but the key will be finding out who else can man the slot if Miller is let go. Dazz Newsome has experience in the slot but went in the 7th round for a reason, and beyond him, there is little depth for that particular spot. It would be hard to be on them relying solely on him They can shuffle around WRs, but this will be something we will have to wait until training camp to see.
