The Chicago Bears’ quarterback room greatly improved

This offseason, the Bears made it quite clear that the quarterback room was going to change. The only guarantee was that Nick Foles was under contract for 2021, but even then, the Bears tried to trade him away and found no luck. Pace and Nagy also made it clear that “everything was on the table” for the quarterback position.

In free agency, Ryan Pace brought in Andy Dalton, a veteran with plenty of experience and a few Pro Bowls to his name. Dalton was instantly named as the “QB1” according to the Chicago Bears’ Twitter page. That didn’t stop Pace from exploring the quarterback position in the 2021 NFL Draft though.

Pace acted on conviction trading up to the 11th overall pick to get Matt Nagy a shiny new toy for his quarterback room. He selected dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields from Ohio State to give Nagy his quarterback that can do it all by beating you downfield or running it with his 4.44 speed.

Now, the Bears quarterback room has all three guys that Nagy would like as his quarterbacks. Foles and Dalton bring the veteran experience and ability to help mentor young Fields. Additionally, Dalton can start if Fields isn’t ready as well and be more than capable. Fields has all the tools and traits necessary to develop into an elite quarterback. The question just remains: Can Matt Nagy actually develop him?
