Does Kindle Vildor have inside track at Chicago Bears inside job

The Chicago Bears cornerback situation is currently ambiguous. They have Jaylon Johnson, who should be healthy and locked in on the left side. However, on the other side the Bears lost Kyle Fuller, and in the slot they lost Buster Skrine.

The team signed Desmond Trufant, and while the veteran is expected to get first crack at starting on the outside, he is signed to a veteran low deal, and has an injury history that has affected his last few stops.

Still, if Trufant is locked in until he goes down, it leaves a competition in the slot. Duke Shelley manned the slot first last year, but that could be because Kindle Vildor was a rookie, and beyond that, Vildor had to jump in on the outside after Johnson was banged up.

In fact, while many assume Shelley would be the guy in the slot, Sean Desai thinks that Kindle Vildor will be competing not only with Trufant on the outside, but with Shelley in the slot.

This is worth noting considering Vildor hardly has experience in the slot. Beyond that, you did not hear the same praise that Shelley showed he belongs. Shelley struggled last season, but a lot of the issues came with Shelly and Vildor communicating.

It was always hard to tell at the time who was at fault, but this quote seems to suggest that Vildor would follow his assignment, and that Shelley was causing the busts.

With that in mind, they very well could be more favorable of Vildor, who showed more despite one less year of experience in the NFL. Trufant is not long for starting, so we could wind up seeing Vildor on the outside, and Shelley in the slot. However, in the pecking order it very well could be that Vildor beats Shelley in the slot as well, and that opening day is Trufant, Johnson, and Vildor as the three main cornerbacks.
