Chicago Bears players who will be gone after 2021: Allen Robinson

This is not a reality Bears fans want to accept, but the harsh reality is, we must begin to try and understand. First and foremost, the Bears won’t have a lot of cash to work with in the coming years. Sure, they could make some room by cutting ties with a few players and will have a little wiggle room with other guys coming off the books. But, with what Allen Robinson is asking for, the Bears might not be able to afford it.

Not only is the financial aspect of Robinson’s future at play, but also the relationship he has with the organization. It’s not far-fetched to say that Robinson’s relationship with the organization has been torched in recent months. General manager Ryan Pace has seemed to botch that situation, unfortunately.

Now that Fields is in Chicago, though, maybe Robinson’s future may still be in Chicago. Fields could end up being the best quarterback Robinson has ever played with, and if he proves to be happy in 2021, there could be hope of the two sides coming together.

As for getting an extension done by the July 15 deadline this year? That’s still not likely. And if that doesn’t happen, there’s more reason to believe Robinson would test the free agent waters next spring. As much as he may love the thought of continuing to play with Fields, other teams could leap at the opportunity to pay him big money — and the Bears may not be willing to do so.
