3 cornerbacks Chicago Bears could still sign

For the most part the Chicago Bears roster is going to be set heading into training camp. However, if there were a position that the team could add before then it would likley be cornerback. Desmond Trufant is a bandaid and whlile the Bears have expressed confidence in Kindle Vildor, he has not played in the slot and has limited experience.

The biggest question the Bears defenses faces is who will man the slot this year. Duke Shelley had some issues last year, although it was his first real taste of NFL play. Still, as of now it appears to be a competition between Shelley, and the inexperienced Vildor.

That leaves potential to add a slot corner. These three players could jump in right away and provide a spark to the slot corner competition.

Nickell Robey-Coelman

Not long ago Nickell Robey-Coleman was looked at as a valued and underrated asset in Wade Phillips defense who signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as one of their impact moves to revamp the 2020 defense. Things broke poorly in Philadelphia not only for Robey-Coleman, but the entire roster.

Still, after a poor year, and with his age, and slot only statys Robey-Coleman is now is a spot where he will either have to wait until a job opens up, or take less than he thought he would be worth to compete for a spot.

The former is likely his scenario, but if he was told Duke Shelley was the only player standing in his way, he may have some interest. If the Bears can get the 2019 version, they would not only upgrade from Shelley, but upgrade their slot situation from the past couple of seasons.
