Chicago Bears rookie Justin Fields could torch the Cleveland Browns in 2021
This might seem a little confusing at first because the Cleveland Browns defense should be a pretty solid unit this year. Myles Garrett is one of the scarier defensive players in the league and the team’s front seven is going to be even better.
Cleveland, of course, brought in Jadeveon Clowney to rush the passer as well, giving their defense quite the one-two punch. The Browns also boast a pair of up-and-coming corners in Denzel Ward and rookie Greg Newsome.
But, the area the Browns have been vulnerable is in defending a mobile quarterback like Fields.
Last year, Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson began by throwing for what would be a season-high 275 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1 against the Browns. Later in the year, he rushed for season-high 124 yards against Cleveland.
2020 wasn’t quite as impressive as his MVP year, but Jackson had no problem making Browns defenders pay. Fields, meanwhile, is just a shade under Jackson’s speed and possesses a more accurate arm. This Week 3 matchup should be one to watch, especially if it ends up being Fields’ first start.
