Chicago Bears rookie Justin Fields could torch the San Francisco 49ers in 2021

There is a lot more hope for the San Francisco 49ers this year, now that they’re healthy. Not only are they going to see their defense intact, but the offense may see a boost from rookie Trey Lance, depending upon whether or not he starts at some point this year.

Defensively, though, the 49ers will be a heck of a lot better now that they’re healthy. But, like the Ravens, they could still struggle against mobile quarterbacks.

One mobile quarterback, in particular, smoked the 49ers twice last season: Kyler Murray.

Granted, the 49ers were hurting last year due to injuries. But, in Week 1, their defense wasn’t yet completely depleted and Murray finished with 230 passing yards to go with his 91 yards on the ground. In both games combined against San Francisco last year, Murray totaled 477 passing yards and 176 rushing yards.

Murray can be a bit more erratic with his passing — although not as much as the aforementioned Jackson. Fields could end up being the most accurate out of all three, meaning the 49ers will have to account for an elite athlete and accurate passer at the same time.

At this point in the season, Fields will be comfortably starting for Chicago. This is a Week 8 matchup, just one game before the team’s bye week, so going in with some momentum would be big — and Fields could be the provider of that momentum.
