Chicago Bears who may lose their job in 2021: Cody Whitehair

Not to completely fool you as the reader here, this is still a valid point we need to talk about. Cody Whitehair is currently the Bears’ starting center and a very good one at that. However, last season may have shifted the tides up front a bit.

When Sam Mustipher came in and played center due to some injuries across the line, he played exceptionally well. In fact, he played well enough for most fans to assume he will come into this season pushing for a starting job.

That starting job, though, should indeed be at center. Because Whitehair has played both center and guard, the logical move would be for Whitehair to give up his job in the middle and slide back over to guard. Mustipher looked comfortable and poised at center, and Whitehair already knows how to play guard and play it well.

This seems like a no-brainer for Nagy. If Mustipher takes Whitehair’s center job, the only starting spot left to figure out is at right tackle. James Daniels is coming back healthy this season and he’ll start at the other guard spot. Obviously, rookie Teven Jenkins will line up at left tackle, giving the Bears a sure-fire starting four. Again, all that’s left to figure out from there is who starts on the far right.
