Chicago Bears who may lose their job in 2021: Jimmy Graham
For a little while this offseason, some wondered whether or not the Bears would cut Jimmy Graham in order to save some cap space. The argument certainly made sense, as the past year has really hampered some teams in terms of finances.
But, tight ends coach Clancy Barone shut the door on any rumor of Graham’s future being in question. Barone said there was “never a doubt” that Graham would be back, thus cementing the fact that he’ll be suiting up in Chicago for 2021.
Now, the Bears do use 12 personnel at times (two tight ends on the field) but, Graham is listed as the teams’ TE1. With Cole Kmet entering his second year and Nagy wanting to get him more involved, that title may not last.
In 2020, Graham proved he was still a legitimate red zone threat. But, we didn’t get to see much of Kmet in the same respect. If the second-year pro shows that he can take a step this season, he could end up becoming the team’s number one tight end and absorb more of those opportunities inside the 20.
