Chicago Bears: 5 players who could surprisingly still be cut
By Ryan Heckman
This offseason, the Chicago Bears have made many significant changes to the roster. General manager Ryan Pace has, once again, given fans plenty of reason to talk.
Of course, the most notable move came when the team traded up to select Justin Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft. But, aside from the draft, Pace irritated more fans than he pleased.
Watching the Bears cut Kyle Fuller and replace him with an oft-injured veteran wasn’t exactly a soothing set of moves by Pace. There was a point in time where it looked like the Bears could be a bottom-five team in the league next year.
But again, the Fields pick made all the difference in the world. Now, it’s about trying to win as soon as possible. Of course, that can only happen when Fields gets the starting job, so that topic will continue to dominate the offseason. Aside from the quarterback conversation, though, the Bears still have lots of questions to answer.
The summer months could mean surprising roster moves for the Chicago Bears
With training camp starting next month, the Bears will begin buckling down on their roster. Until then, the team could still opt to sign additional free agents. But for now, it looks like their 90-man roster is essentially set.
Even with the roster the way it is right now, the Bears have some big decisions to make — decisions that could impact the team financially as well as on the field.
Head coach Matt Nagy and his staff will have their work cut out for them in some areas this summer, having to make some tough cuts at a few positions. Which positions might we see some surprise cuts? There are five notable players, in particular, we could see cut that would surprise the fan base in one way or another.
