Chicago Bears Breakout Candidate: Jaylon Johnson, Cornerback

Another big part of the impressive 2020 NFL Draft class for the Chicago Bears, cornerback Jaylon Johnson is going to have a tall task in 2021 with the release of Kyle Fuller. Johnson proved to be one of the best corners of the 2020 NFL Draft despite being drafted in the second round.

Johnson was a star at Utah but struggled to stay healthy and stay on the field with shoulder injuries causing him to fall in the draft. That same issue reappeared in 2020 as he missed the end of the season and the playoff game against the Saints with the shoulder issue, but he luckily avoided surgery.

The second-year cornerback now needs to take the next step and cement himself as a high-end defensive back in the NFL. Replacing Fuller won’t be easy, but with the help of new defensive coordinator Sean Desai, Johnson can take the next step and break out in the NFL.
