There is an old saying that pressure creates diamonds, and for the Chicago Bears’ sake, fans are hoping it holds true throughout the coming 2021 season.

It is one thing to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and have the pressure of defending a Super Bowl championship. The target will be on their back all season long.

But, for a team like the Bears, there is a different kind of pressure going into this year. Two years removed from one of the more exciting seasons in recent memory, the Bears enter a season with hardly any expectations from the national media.

Two years ago, the Bears were on the rise. Now? Things are much different. Despite the 2021 NFL Draft providing the Bears with a franchise quarterback, this team still doesn’t have any of the national media behind them. The pressure is on for the Bears to shock the football world and make a run.

A few Chicago Bears players, in particular, have some added pressure in 2021

When looking at this Bears roster, there are a handful of players you could say are on the rise and in a great place. Someone like David Montgomery will only feel any pressure if he places it on his shoulders himself. Things are looking bright for Montgomery, and the offensive line should be even better this year.

The same can be said for Roquan Smith. He’s developed into somebody the Bears don’t have to think twice about. Smith is one of the better inside linebackers in the league and will deserve every dollar he has coming to him soon enough.

But, on the flip side, there are some players on this Bears roster who should be feeling some big time pressure. Chicago is going to be counting on a few guys to play big in 2021, and it starts in the trenches.
