Chicago Bears Position Groups: No. 3 – Defensive Line

The loss of Roy Robertson-Harris hurts and it hurts to see fan-favorite Brent Urban going to Dallas as well, but the Bears still reloaded. As usual, Pace found himself a nice free-agent gem on the defensive line in Mario Edwards Jr. Edwards played plenty last season with Eddie Goldman opting out and Roberston-Harris getting hurt.

We can’t forget about Akiem Hicks. The star defensive lineman is entering the final year of his contract and this could be his last time dressing up for the Bears. Hicks is one of the most underrated defensive linemen in the NFL and when healthy, he arguably is the best player on the field.

Eddie Goldman comes back this season as well. He opted out last season due to COVID-19 and will likely take some time to get back to normal. The nose tackle is a high-end nose tackle in the NFL and will help the Bears greatly in stopping the run as they struggled to stop the run at times last season.

Bilal Nichols arguably broke out last season in place of both Goldman and Roberston-Harris. As mentioned, Pace worked his magic and found a star on the line for a steal (fifth-round pick). The defensive trio of Nichols, Hicks, and Goldman is arguably the best in the NFL. Edwards rotating in and new signing Angelo Blackman and rookie Khyiris Tonga may see the field too.
