Tarik Cohen is a great weapon out of the slot for the Chicago Bears

In addition to being a playmaker in the passing game from the backfield, Cohen has also spent a majority of his time in Chicago lined up as a slot receiver. It is another way to get the shifty RB matched up in space.

Tarik Cohen’s 184 total yards vs. Tampa Bay in 2018 showcased his entire skillset. Just shortly into Cohen’s highlight reel, Trubisky finds Cohen on a deep ball to put the Bears in the red zone. Cohen ran a wheel route out of a trip’s formation.

Later in the video, Cohen runs a screen pass, an arrow route out of the backfield, and catches another deep route in the third quarter. Nagy went after the Buccaneers linebackers knowing they had trouble covering him all game. Trubisky actually worked through his reads and came back to Cohen on the weak side knowing there was a good chance he would be open.

The contract extension awarded to Cohen from general manager Ryan Pace last September was a smart move knowing how effective Cohen can be in Nagy’s offense. We know the 2019 campaign was an underwhelming one, but the Bears are banking on Nagy’s growth as a play-caller and Cohen’s skills to deliver big-time plays for the offense. No matter who the quarterback will be in Week 1 or Week 10, Cohen should be a reliable threat for them.
