Chicago Bears named most interesting team by one analyst
The Chicago Bears have had their fair share of ups and downs during Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy’s tenure. From being named the NFL Coach and Executive of the Year in 2018 to having fans calling for their heads at the end of 2020, these two know how difficult this fanbase can be to appease. They don’t say the NFL is a “what have you done for me lately” league without just cause.
Well, lately Ryan Pace has brought great hope to this team. The question is, will it be enough, and is it too late? One NFL analyst believes the Chicago Bears are the most interesting team in the NFL this season. Cris Collinsworth of Pro Football Focus (PFF) and NBC Sunday Night Football recently interviewed Matt Nagy and claimed the Bears to be the most interesting of the 32 teams.
Cris Collinsworth has not discussed the Chicago Bears this much in a long time
In the interview, Collinsworth told Matt Nagy that this is the most he has talked about the Chicago Bears in a very long time. He talks about how Justin Fields is the main reason for all of the intrigue and excitement.
The thing is, Cris Collinsworth is not wrong. This team is full of excitement after the 2021 NFL Draft. Amazing how quickly the tides can change. It was not long ago the fanbase was still calling for Pace and Nagy to be fired — especially after the team released Kyle Fuller to make room for Andy Dalton. Personally, I did not hate the move. It was an unfortunate consequence of the salary cap being over $20 million less than originally expected due to the COIVD-19 pandemic.
However, landing Justin Fields (second-best quarterback prospect in my rankings) by not throwing away too much of the future was a thing of beauty, and let’s face it, luck. That is not where things ended though. Ryan Pace was able to trade up and grab offensive tackle Teven Jenkins in the second round. Jenkins had a first-round grade by many (including most of us at BGO).
This team is somewhat built for now and making key moves to also build for the future. Making them one of, if not the most interesting teams of the NFL in 2021. Cris Collinsworth is right.
