Tashaun Gipson, Chicago Bears Safety

After landing on his third team in three seasons in the Chicago Bears, Tashaun Gipson proved his worth in 2020 as a solid safety alongside Eddie Jackson to earn himself another one-year contract with the Bears for the 2021 season. The veteran safety hopefully could be here as the future safety alongside Jackson.

Gipson has always been a solid safety in the NFL. He earned himself Pro Bowl honors as the free safety for the Cleveland Browns in 2014 as he racked up six interceptions. After his time in Cleveland, he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars and became part of their elite defense that carried them to the AFC Championship in 2017.

The defense eventually got taken apart with players leaving left and right. Gipson left in 2019 to join the Houston Texans but struggled there as he was only there for one season. To be fair, everybody struggles on the Texans’ defense and looks much worse while playing for them. The Bears then took a discount on him in 2020 adding him to replace HaHa Clinton-Dix.

Gipson played solid in 2020 for the Bears as he was a reliable tackler and played solid in coverage with two interceptions and seven passes defended. Now, he needs to prove he can play well in new defensive coordinator Sean Desai’s scheme as well and earn himself an extension to come back for the future.
