Sam Mustipher, Chicago Bears Center

The Chicago Bears found themselves a nice gem in Sam Mustipher last season. When the Bears suffered multiple injuries to their offensive line in James Daniels, Bobby Massie, and even Mustipher, the Bears had to turn to many different offensive line combinations. They eventually settled on Mustipher being their center and Cody Whitehair slotting in at left guard.

Mustipher was a stud center at Notre Dame with three years of starting experience. He was a captain and vocal leader for the Fighting Irish but wasn’t drafted due to his height and small size. He then signed with the Bears with his teammate, Alex Bars, as undrafted free agents.

Mustipher stayed on the practice squad for the 2019 season and to start the 2020 season before being promoted to the active roster in 2020 after Daniels went down. Mustipher started alongside Bars and paved the way for Montgomery’s solid ending to the 2020 season.

Mustipher has seemed to be the consensus starter for 2021 as of now. He needs to prove he can be a solid center though before he earns himself a contract extension to be the long-term starter for the future.
