Since being drafted by the Chicago Bears No. 11 overall this year, quarterback Justin Fields has been the most talked about player on the roster — and it’s not even close.

And why shouldn’t he be? He’s only a first-round rookie playing the most important position in sports, in a city that’s been starved of great quarterback play for essentially their entire existence.

When it comes to the quarterback position, the Bears’ luck, or lack thereof, has been laughable over the years. For the oldest franchise in the NFL, one would think that by now the team would have been able to boast at least one All-Pro quarterback. Heck, fans would settle for a 4,000 yard passing season or even 30 passing touchdowns, let alone All-Pro.

The pressure is all on Fields, and the comparisons to other NFL quarterbacks have already begun. But, is it too ridiculous to start comparing Fields to some of the best in the game today?

Justin Fields proving Chicago Bears are making up for Mitchell Trubisky pick

In the 2017 draft, general manager Ryan Pace made one of the most polarizing moves in team history when he moved up to get Mitchell Trubisky. A few picks later, the Kansas City Chiefs would go on to select Patrick Mahomes.

Already, Mahomes has won an MVP and been to two Super Bowls — winning one of them. Now, he and Fields have been compared in a few different areas — talk about pressure.

Living up to the hype is something a Bears quarterback has never done, but Fields is out to prove he can buck the trend. Not only that, but some think he’s going to be one of the next great quarterbacks in the league. And, if these comparisons to Mahomes are any indication, we’re in for a fun ride.
