The Chicago Bears have had their fair share of injuries over the last few years, but the team has also been lucky compared to other teams. Any team that loses their top quarterback for example will for sure struggle in a season — this is not something the Bears have had to deal with — just average to below-average quarterback play instead. This is not to say the team has not lost some key players in the most inopportune time.

When it comes to the Chicago Bears’ 2021 season, it is full of hope and promise. Not necessarily for this season, but definitely for the future. When a team can draft a top quarterback prospect and add who they hope to be a future left tackle, then of course the fanbase is going to be excited.

Although the focus is on the near future (2022 season and beyond), this team has a few aging stars (Khalil Mack, Robert Quinn and Akiem Hicks for example) on defense that need to win now. Hicks is even in the final year of his contract and it does not appear a contract extension is in the works. Are we seeing a changing of the guard so-to-speak?

The offense has seen a shakeup in the team’s most recent drafts. Players like Justin Fields and Teven Jenkins are hopefully the light at the end of a tunnel of average to below-average play at two of the most important positions on offense — quarterback and left tackle. That hope aside, this team has a few players (mostly on defense) who seem to be bigger injury risks than most.
