Right now, all of the talk is obviously about the Chicago Bears’ 2021 season. The biggest topic in Chicago sports continues to be rookie quarterback Justin Fields and when he will get his shot at the starting gig.

However, if we look ahead to 2022, there’s another monumental topic that could affect the Bears’ offseason in a big way.

Wide receiver Allen Robinson is entering 2021 on the franchise tag with no plans to hold out or miss any part of training camp. He’s been the consummate professional and continues to show up for his teammates.

However, talks between Robinson and the Bears have broken down since last September and the odds of him sticking around after this coming season do not look promising.

What happens if the Chicago Bears lose Allen Robinson in 2022?

If Robinson heads for a new team on a big payday next offseason, the Bears will be in the market for a number one wide receiver again. At the very least, they will need an equal complement to Darnell Mooney.

Chicago could obviously look to find one via the draft, which would probably be the ideal move. The other option, though, would be via trade. There could be a few wide receivers available via trade next offseason for various reasons, and the Bears may be able to jump into those discussions.

Three receivers, in particular, make the most sense for the Bears in 2022 by way of trade.
