Would you look at that? We’re another week closer to the Chicago Bears training camp! And surely once practices begin, a lot of attention will be on a position that the Bears invested heavily in during the offseason … wide receiver.

In this episode of The Chicago Audible, the guys continue their annual summer series “Countdown to Camp” — where they go episode-by-episode previewing every position (and player) on the Chicago Bears — the guys share their in-depth preview (and discussion on) the wide receivers.

Exactly how much has changed for the Chicago Bears wide receivers?

For starters, Chicago has brought in two capable veterans in Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd. Both of these players bring 4.27 speed to an offense that can use it. But will both of these players make the team? If not, who has the best shot of cracking the final roster? And besides speed, do they provide any additional value?

The Bears also added more youth to the position by drafting Dazz Newsome in the sixth round. Why did the Bears draft Newsome, how does he fit in the offense, and can he make an immediate impact during his rookie season?

What about Anthony Miller who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, is he on the hot seat after a disappointing 2020 campaign? Can he still turn things around in Chicago?

After a stupendous rookie year, how can Darnell Mooney take a step forward in Year 2? What are some underrated elements of his game that he can utilize and why should you be excited about this young wideout?

Even though he didn’t receive the contract he was looking for, Allen Robinson was given the franchise tag and is a Chicago Bear for at least another year. Will he benefit from the changes the Bears made at quarterback? And what does this guy have to do to get that new deal?

The guys also make some season stat predictions for the unit, play some over/under and discuss a few additional superlatives along the way. And of course, they stay true to form (adhering to their promise to discuss every player on the roster heading into training camp) by making sure they share which players fighting for roster spots have the best chance of making the team.

Which receivers will make the team? And what should we expect from those players in 2021?

As always, the guys at The Chicago Audible, have you covered.
