Chicago Bears fans, like any good fans, will take their fandom to the grave.

So, it’s no surprise that when we see some bad takes during the offseason lull, fans jump to their team’s defense.

One of the latest conversations had amongst fans is in regards to a series done by CBS Sports.

In the past few days, CBS Sports has published a few top-10 lists including various positions and coaches. The conclusion when looking at each of these lists is simple: CBS Sports does not like the Bears.

National disrespect is nothing new to the Chicago Bears or their fans.

Starting at the top, they ranked NFL head coaches 1-32 with Matt Nagy coming in at No. 19, just barely cracking the top 20, yet still finishing in the back half. Whether or not you agree with this assessment, it’s clear they do not think highly of Nagy.

The biggest miss from CBS Sports was when they decided to leave Khalil Mack out of their top-10 edge rusher/interior linemen list.

The funny thing is, if you ask Pro Football Focus, Mack was the most valuable edge rusher in all of football in 2020. Using metrics other than just sacks, PFF was able to find that Mack’s total WAR (wins above replacement) was number one in football.

Whether folks agree with it or not, Mack is still elite. You just have to look at the whole picture.

Next up for CBS is their most recent safety rankings, which did not include Eddie Jackson. What’s more insulting is the fact that under the “just missed” section (honorable mentions), there were nine more names that did not include Jackson. Therefore, CBS Sports believes Jackson isn’t even a top-20 safety in this league.

Has Jackson taken a dip in production since his huge 2018 season? Sure. However, is he still a top-10 safety in this league? One could argue indeed he is.

Lastly, and maybe the most frustrating miss by CBS Sports is their top-10 running back rankings. Yep, you guessed it. David Montgomery is nowhere to be found. Montgomery is, however, in their “just missed” category.

Although, Montgomery is also amongst both Chris Carson and Leonard Fournette in this honorable mention type of conversation. That’s downright insulting for a guy who ended the 2020 season with the fifth-most rushing yards in the NFL.

These are all rankings and opinions from just one outlet, but the commonality between them all is abundantly clear. These folks have no faith in, nor respect for, the Chicago Bears. Maybe the 2021 version of this team will be enough to make CBS Sports eat their words.
