Chicago Bears: 3 Things Justin Fields needs to develop properly
By Joseph Herff
Chicago Bears need to provide Justin Fields with better wide receivers
After this season, Allen Robinson is expected to become a free agent. In addition, the Bears only have Darnell Mooney and Riley Ridley under contract for the 2022 season. Without a first-round pick in the NFL Draft, the Bears may have some trouble getting wide receivers.
There are plenty of free-agent wide receivers who the Bears can scoop up next season. If the Bears really wanted to splurge and sign an elite wide receiver, the Bears could target Chris Godwin or Davante Adams. It would be hard to pull Adams from a rival, but Godwin could be a nice add given he is only 26 and he could be looking to be the main target given he competes with Mike Evans and Antonio Brown.
If the Bears wanted to go after a potential wide receiver that is affordable and could develop into a star, there are options there as well. The Bears could target players like Will Fuller, Robby Anderson, JuJu Smith-Schuster, DJ Chark, or Michael Gallup. All of these players have either been buried or hindered by a bad situation to not get a chance to show their abilities and could be looking to get with a young quarterback.
For all we know though, the Bears could extend Allen Robinson (doubtful). I would like to see the Bears additionally bring back either Damiere Byrd or Marquise Goodwin cheap as well depending on who rises as the main deep threat between those two.
