Chicago Bears: 3 Things Justin Fields needs to develop properly
By Joseph Herff
The Chicago Bears need to protect Justin Fields
With bringing in Justin Fields, a very important thing to that is keeping him upright and healthy. The Bears should take the Cincinnati Bengals as a great example as to why this is so important. Joe Burrow got absolutely killed last season behind their putrid offensive line and he eventually tore his ACL as a result of it.
Ryan Pace took a step in the right direction this offseason to do this. He drafted two offensive tackles in Teven Jenkins (2nd round) and Larry Borom (5th round), but the Bears still should go after an elite offensive tackle next offseason to help protect Fields. Both Charles Leno and Bobby Massie are now gone, so they need new tackles that actually have NFL experience.
Some examples of free-agent offensive tackles the Bears could sign next offseason are Cam Robinson, Orlando Brown Jr., and Terron Armstead. They could additionally target cheaper veterans like Eric Fisher, Mike Remmers, or Trent Brown.
The interior of the Bears’ offensive line is set, but I wouldn’t be opposed to them targeting a high-end center next offseason like Ryan Jensen or Ben Jones.
