2021 Roster Rank No. 27: Christian Jones has a role on Chicago Bears
We are counting down until training camp by counting down the biggest and best names on the Chicago Bears roster. We have started at number 90 and are down to number 27 on our list. Remember, this list is focused solely on what these players may be able to do to contribute to the 2021 Chicago Bears, it does not focus on the past or future beyond this year.
No. 27: Chicago Bears linebacker Christian Jones
Some fans are going to think this is too high, but believe me when I tell you that the Chicago Bears signed Christian Jones for a reason. They see a valuable role for him, and he is going to play on this defense much more than some fans may think.
To start, Jones was almost a starter for Detroit with how many snaps he played. He also played on and off of the football, but his best trait was rushing the passer.
This helps in a few ways. To start, he can limit the snaps Danny Trevathan plays and keep him fresh. Beyond that, Jones can rush the passer in a role that also could get Robert Quinn off of the field at times too.
It is one thing for Jones to be the backup linebacker and third guy on the field. However, as a situational rusher all of the sudden his role is expanded enough where he is very close to being one of the most impactful 22 players, which is what is designated for the starters. Do not be surprised when you see more out of Christian Jones than expected in 2021.
