Chicago Bears Roster Rank No. 20: Germain Ifedi is polarizing in 2021
We have finally hit the top 20 in our ranking of the top Chicago Bears players. This list started at 90 with the hopes of dissecting the entire roster and ranking who will have the biggest impact on the 2021 Bears. This has made the wait until training camp easier and has given us context into where everyone stands on the roster. Now, we are getting to the big names.
No. 20 Chicago Bears Right Tackle Germain Ifedi
Germain Ifedi is polarizing for a variety of reasons. His importance to the 2021 roster should have him higher, but on the basis of his play, it is almost unfair to put him higher. Ifedi was signed to start at right guard after he failed at tackle with the Seahawks.
Ifedi was up and down, and that could be expected not only with growing pains but with changes around him in personnel.
However, after the bye week, they moved him to right tackle. The combination of opponents, health, and other things clicked and Ifedi has stuck at right tackle since.
Still, Ifedi is left with six starts at right tackle, and only three being against playoff teams. The Bears were 0-3 in those games. Other teams include the Jags, Texans the Lions, a loss in which Ifedi allowed a sack.
It is fair to say he is more natural at tackle and that the best offensive production was with him at right tackle. It is equally fair to say that him starting at right tackle still has to bring a lot of questions to the offensive line.
