Fourth and fifth-best nicknames in Chicago Bears history

5. Mike Singletary, LB – “Samauri Mike” / “Iron Mike”

Mike Singletary is just another great linebacker in a line of great linebackers who played for the Chicago Bears. For his great work on the field, Singletary earned the nicknames “Samauri Mike” and “Iron Mike”.

Both of these nicknames were given due to his fantastic work ethic both on and off the field. He is well-known for his big eyes that stared people down. You could even see them through his facemask. He brought an intensity like no other. Singletary is yet another Hall-of-Fame player inducted as a Chicago Bear.

4. Dan Hampton, DL – “Danimal”

One of my Dad’s favorite players was Dan Hampton. I am too young to remember watching him play live, but watching his highlights it is very easy to understand why. Hampton was one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL when he played.

Hampton played 12 seasons in the NFL and all of them were with the Chicago Bears. He made four Pro Bowls and was selected to the First-Team All-Pro list once. Given the nickname of “Danimal” was perfect since he was a beast playing on the defensive line.
