The best nickname in Chicago Bears history

1. William Perry, DT – “Refrigerator” / “the Fridge”

I know many of you would prefer to see Walter Payton atop this list. Listen, I love Payton and he is on the top of most of my Chicago Bears lists. Sweetness is a very cool nickname and everyone is familiar with who you are talking about when you mention that nickname.

The thing is, having a nickname of William “Refrigerator” Perry is just a little bit cooler in my opinion. Perry was built like a fridge and was quickly given the nickname by a friend. He easily makes my top-10 nickname list.

Notable Mentions:

Matt Forte, RB – “Workhorse”
Charles Tillman, CB – “Peanut”
Jay Cutler, QB – “Smoking Jay”
Gary Fencik, S – “Hit-Man”
James Thornton, TE – “Robocop”
Clyde Turner, C – “Bulldog”
Anthony Thomas, RB – “A-Train”
Gale Sayers, RB – “Kansas Comet”

Some of these guys could easily make it into fans’ top-10 lists. I was a big fan of Matt Forte and loved his nickname of “Workhorse”. Same with Charles Tillman as “Peanut”. I have to admit, I was not familiar with “Robocop” as a nickname for James Thornton, but that alone should be in a top-10 list. Remember, I said this was subjective. Since I was unaware, it’s hard to say it deserves to be on my list. Many will want Gale Sayers on this list, but “Kansas Comet” just doesn’t do it for me.

As you can see, the Chicago Bears have plenty of nicknames to choose from. Who do you have in your top 10?
