2021 Chicago Bears Roster Rank No. 14: Tashaun Gipson
We are now so close to the top 10 players on the Chicago Bears you can feel it. We have been counting down the Bears roster for weeks and are now inside the top 15 after starting all the way back at 90. This list has been looking at individual talent and its impact on the 2021 season.
We are asking how important is each player’s impact to the success or failure of the 2021 Bears?
With that in mind, who number 14?
No. 14 Chicago Bears safety Tashaun Gipson
This seems about a fair ranking for Tashaun Gipson. Coming into last season he was locked in as a starter at safety, but sitting at number 20 it could be looked at as one of the lower-end starters on the roster. Considering 22 players are on the field at a time, Gipson being at 20 is a bit low.
He played well last season, and some fans will claim he played better than Eddie Jackson. However, others will tell you that the presence of Jackson makes life much easier for Gipson.
Either way, Gipson had a better season than expected. Still, he is not a game-changer on the defense and is now 30 years old. It is great to have him as a starting safety as he is reliable and you know what you are getting but you are not getting a career year or a break out from him. If he is back in 2022, expect him in this range again.
