A week ago, we looked into the offense and came up with four players who deserve to be on the bubble as camp approaches. The Chicago Bears have plenty of decisions to make and roster cuts are just one of them. With a full roster, the Bears will need to weed out at least 30 players. Some may end up on the practice squad, but that’s what the definition of being on the roster bubble means.

When I look at players who qualify as being on the roster bubble, they either need to have played for the Chicago Bears or another team the prior season and contribute either on offense, defense or special teams. The other way a player could be on the roster bubble in my opinion is if the player, most likely a late-round rookie, is being hyped and is projected to be on the final roster rather than be stashed on the practice squad.

Which Chicago Bears are on the defensive roster bubble as camp starts?

For example, Ledarius Mack is technically on the roster bubble, but I’m not counting him as he has not played well enough to contribute in the regular season and has been stashed on the practice squad at this point. Maybe Mack pushes James Vaughters this offseason and makes the final roster instead, but I doubt it. Because of his situation, he does not qualify as someone I consider on the roster bubble as the team heads into training camp.

Now that you know how a player qualifies, here are five players on defense who will need to perform well if they want to make the Chicago Bears final roster this season.
