Tre Roberson is likely on the Chicago Bears roster bubble

This one might be pushing my required qualifications a little. Tre Roberson is not being hyped by everyone to make this year’s final roster. Roberson had this same hype last year after the Bears convinced him to sign a two-year contract.

Roberson was a free agent out of the Canadian Football League (CFL). His journey to the NFL was not a prototypical one. Roberson actually was a quarterback in high school. He was named Indiana’s Mr. Football in 2010 and then played quarterback at Indiana University. After a redshirt freshman year, he transferred to Illinois State for his final two seasons. In his first season at his new school, Roberson led the team to an FCS Championship. The Redbirds lost to Carson Wentz though.

Roberson knew he wasn’t going to be able to make it in the NFL as a quarterback. He made the switch to corner. After spending what would have been his rookie year in the NFL on the Vikings practice squad, he ended up playing in the CFL. After two seasons, he was the top 2020 CFL free agent. After being coveted by nine other teams, Roberson chose to sign with the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately, he broke his foot and was never able to compete in training camp.

Roberson is back though in 2021 and plenty of fans still think he has the potential to make an impact. That won’t happen unless he proves himself worthy in training camp.
