Predicting the Chicago Bears 53-man roster: Running Backs

The running back position is not that difficult in my opinion to predict either. David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen are easily making this roster. There is no doubt about that. The question is which running backs will fall in place behind them. Will the team only keep three, instead of the four they normally keep to make room for the extra quarterback on the roster? Doubtful in my opinion. A different position will likely see less depth this year instead.

Former Chiefs running back, Damien Williams is the obvious choice as the third running back on the roster. He has the most upside and experience. He can help not only on the ground but also through the air. After playing the game of his life in the 2019 Super Bowl win over the 49ers, Williams opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns. He helped the Chiefs come back to win the Super Bowl with 133 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.

Fighting for the last spot will be Ryan Nall, Artavis Pierce, sixth-round rookie Khalil Herbert. and undrafted free agent CJ Marable. I am predicting that Khalil Herbert makes the final roster and is the fourth running back on the team.

As of now, the Chicago Bears will be keeping four running backs on the roster.

  • David Montgomery
  • Tarik Cohen
  • Damien Williams
  • Khalil Herbert
