2. Jordan Lucas
Jordan Lucas is another player that the Chicago Bears signed last offseason. The thought when they signed him was that they had an upgrade from DeAndre Houston-Carson, but also a player who could push Deon Bush for the third safety role.
However, with the pandemic going on Jordan Lucas had personal reasons to opt-out and did so last season. Similar to Artie Burns, the Bears had the chance to move on and find someone else, but they decided to bring back Lucas.
The reality is that the depth is the same. Bush is still the safety three and did not prove himself last season, while DHC has never taken the step beyond special teams. Lucas could climb from an unknown player and an out of sight, out-of-mind depth player to a defender who gets on the field at times in the regular season.
