Chicago Bears fans need to keep an eye on Jaylon Johnson during training camp

Last season, Jaylon Johnson looked great for the Chicago Bears. He performed like a first-round draft pick despite Ryan Pace nabbing him in the second round. The problem with Johnson has always been his injury history. With multiple shoulder injuries, Johnson fell out of first-round draft pick territory, yet the Chicago Bears took a chance on him. It’s too early to see how things will play out. He had a great rookie year but missed time due to the shoulder.

Now that Kyle Fuller is gone and Johnson will need to be the top cornerback on the team, this season will show us how good Johnson really can be. Not to mention, it will be important to watch how his shoulder holds up. He did not need surgery last year, which is good, but if he can’t remain on the field then he could go down as yet another draft bust for Ryan Pace.

In his rookie season, Johnson only allowed 56.4 percent of the passes thrown in his direction to be completed. He did not come away with an interception, but he had 15 pass breakups in only 13 games. Johnson is a can’t-miss player this offseason because we need to see how well he holds up physically while also handling the top cornerback responsibilities.
