Chicago Bears, WR Allen Robinson: 2020 review and 2021 projections

Finishing as the WR9 for fantasy had to have meant some top-level statistics for the year in 2020. Here are some major statistics via Fantasy Stats that made Robinson a massive fantasy asset last season:

  • 1,250 receiving yards (eighth-most for the WR position). This included four games of over 100 receiving yards.
  • 151 total targets (third-most for the WR position). Robinson had six games of 10+ targets. This resulted in 102 receptions on the year.
  • Opportunity % (percentage of receptions and rushing attempts for a team): 17.2%, which was eighth-best among wide receivers who played at least 14 games.
  • Reception % (percentage of team’s receptions): 26%, which was the fifth-best for the WR position, again accounting for players who played in 14-plus games.

One statistic not to brag about was the receiving TD category, in which Robinson only had 6 touchdowns. Fellow division WR Davante Adams on the other hand had 18.

2021 projections

With improved quarterback play, and seeing the volume that has been schemed up for Robinson the last two seasons with the Bears, I would project the following statistics in 2021:

  • 1,155 to 1,275 receiving yards
  • 145 to 155 targets
  • 7 to 9 receiving touchdowns

The target volume should remain as one of the most in the league which in turn should keep those receiving yards high. Better quarterback play should in turn equal more opportunities for touchdowns as well.
