Chicago Bears: 5 Bold cut candidates during training camp
Chicago Bears Bold Cut Candidate: Desmond Trufant, CB
After having to part ways with cornerback Kyle Fuller, the Chicago Bears are now very weak at the corner spot. With Jaylon Johnson now the hopeful CB1 on the team, Desmond Trufant is being relied upon to be the second corner opposite of Johnson. However, what if after all is said and done, the Chicago Bears decide that Kindle Vildor is the better option at CB2?
By cutting Trufant, the Chicago Bears would save just over $1 million dollars. Many coaches and even fans have been praising Vildor this offseason. Personally, I do not trust him to be the guy, but I am at least hopeful of his growth this season. Thomas Graham, Jr. has also looked good in camp and if those three are able to solidify themselves, then moving on from Trufant could be a realistic option.
Trufant comes with plenty of risks on his own with his injury history. Should the team decide to move on from Trufant, Artie Burns, Duke Shelley, Michael Joseph and Xavier Crawford would still make for some decent depth. I doubt that Trufant is cut, but it should not be out of the question.
