Alex Bars is creating a real buzz at Chicago Bears training camp
The offensive line has been the biggest pain point of training camp so far. The Bears are currently hurting badly up front, with Teven Jenkins (back), Germain Ifedi (hip), Lachavious Simmons (concussion protocol), Larry Borom (concussion protocol), Elijah Wilkinson (reserve list) and James Daniels (quad) having been out for different periods of time.
Chicago recently signed former Clemson lineman Gage Cervenka to help alleviate the pain, but the one guy who has already begun to take some of the pressure off is former Notre Dame standout Alex Bars.
Bars is providing the Bears with a huge lift in camp so far, and his versatility is coming in handy in a big way. The fact that he can play virtually any position up front is a big advantage for him when so many guys are currently out.
You can tell coach Nagy is relieved to have someone like Bars in camp. He has continuously praised Bars’ versatility during this tough time. And, as for the man himself, Bars knows how valuable he is in the NFL. He’s comfortable at every single position and has no problem stepping in where coaches ask him to.
"“I feel pretty comfortable across the board,” Bars said. “I don’t have a favorite spot.” (NBCS)"
Having someone like Bars in camp is invaluable. He’s proven that so far.
