Chicago Bears Matchup: Bears offensive tackles versus Dolphins defensive line

This is going to be a very important matchup to watch. Right now, the Chicago Bears are without both starting offensive tackles, Teven Jenkins and Germain Ifedi. Hopefully, rookie fifth-round draft pick Larry Borom can clear concussion protocol and can help. However, right now we should expect to see Elijah Wilkinson at left tackle and Lachavious “Pig” Simmons at right tackle.

This is a vast difference from what we were expecting to see. Heading into training camp we thought we would see an established interior offensive line — one with Sam Mustipher at center, Cody Whitehair at left guard and James Daniels at right guard. Now, although that interior is the same, having Wilkinson and Simmons on the outside was never the plan. They have struggled mightily to keep the pass rush from getting to both Andy Dalton and Justin Fields.

With the little bit of camp news that the Chicago Bears allow being released, we have heard enough to know that Khalil Mack and company have been getting through on the outside consistently. The same happened during the joint practices with the Dolphins. Now, fans will see for themselves how bad things are and can blame Ryan Pace for not having a backup option for Teven Jenkins despite knowing of his back issues ahead of drafting him.
