There have been few bright spots on the Chicago Bears offense over the last three seasons. Poor quarterback play and questionable playcalling from head coach Matt Nagy has made for one of the worst-performing offenses in the league. However, despite the struggles and criticism, the offense has faced, wide receiver Allen Robinson seems to be the one player that has been able to shine.
Allen Robinson will play for the Chicago Bears on the franchise tag this year
With the Bears failing to reach an extension with Robinson before the start of the 2021 season, fans have started to realize there is a real possibility this season will be Robinson’s last with the team. Even if Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy come to Robinson at the end of the season with the largest sum of money, there is no guarantee that will be enough to repair what appears to be a broken relationship between the receiver and the organization.
Many things could change between now and the end of the year though. Maybe Andy Dalton and Allen Robinson form such a great connection that Robinson decides to follow Dalton to another team. Instead, maybe Justin Fields takes over, Robinson and he develop the connection and Robinson decides he will take a little less to finish out his career here in Chicago.
There are too many variables and outcomes to try and predict here, but what we do know is that replacing a receiver with Allen Robinson’s production and consistency won’t be easy, there are several intriguing candidates for the Bears to go after next offseason.
