Chicago Bears potential Allen Robinson Replacement: Courtland Sutton

Why it makes sense

Coming off a torn ACL, Courtland Sutton could emerge as a premier free agent with a strong 2021 season. Sutton was seen as a potential breakthrough candidate in 2020 following a Pro Bowl season in 2019. The injury may have calmed the hype, but the talent and potential are still there.

Sutton is a big body receiver at 6’4″ and 216 pounds. He is able to use his frame to shed tackles but still has the athleticism to create separation and make big plays. Sutton turns 26 in October and hasn’t been gifted with the best quarterback play so far in his young career. This gives him a lot of room for growth in the right situation. If Justin Fields can progress the way people in the Bears’ organization are confident he can, Sutton could be a game-changer in Chicago.

Why it may not work

Sutton had not missed a game in his pro career before last year, but it is still important to see how he looks post-surgery. Sutton possesses the necessary skills to be a great receiver, but playing in only one game since the end of 2019 makes him a difficult player to evaluate.
