3. Trevis Gipson

When the Chicago Bears traded a future draft pick to acquire Trevis Gipson, the expectation was that the team found a gem. Ryan Pace hits on his mid-round picks more often than his first-round picks, and he traded a future mid-rounder, which he values more than other teams.

Gipson did nothing as a rookie and could not pass up James Vaughters. COVID-19 is a fair excuse, but Vaughters should have been beatable if what Pace saw was right. Reports out of camp are that Gipson looks like a year in an NFL weight room helped for the better. On Saturday he showed it.

Gipson was creating pressure and looked to be head and shoulders ahead of Vaughters. It is a small step, but if the Bears can keep Gipson and let Vaughters go, they can add a roster spot for another position.
