Chicago Bears Running Back: Ryan Nall

Prediction: does not make the 53 man roster

Ryan Nall was able to do just enough in the preseason to get a roster spot in 2019 and 2020. Unfortunately, Nall’s path to making the final roster is significantly more difficult this year. Rookie Khalil Herbert and free agent Damien Williams have been added into the mix of Bears running backs. As of right now, Nall is competing with Artavis Pierce for the 5th running back spot.

Nall hasn’t gotten much playing time in the regular season, but when he’s been called on, he’s proven to be a pretty good pass-catcher. Tarik Cohen being on the PUP list does temporarily help Nall’s chances, but once Cohen is back in the lineup, the Bears backfield will likely be too crowded for Nall.

One thing that could help Nall stick around is his versatility. He also played tight end in college before transitioning to a full-time running back with the Bears and was a quality special teams player in 2020. Nall may not have an individual skill that is good enough to make an NFL roster, but he can do enough things at an adequate level that he could sneak his way onto the Bears roster yet again.
